Progressive deterioration of the front facade stonework dictated that
scaffolding shroud the building for several years to contain falling masonry
before grant assistance became available in 2005. Works included the
complete renewal of the front facade, stone repairs to gable and rear
elevations, repointing, chimney rebuilding, window renewal, re-slating, roof
leadwork renewal, utility services upgrading, restoration of the Post Office
frontage and new period shopfronts.
